Are there any restrictions on whitewater rafting in Alberta?

At Mukwah Rafting Tours, we do have an age restriction. Ages 6 – 11 are recommended to participate after the spring runoff (when the waters are calmer). Ages 12 and up can participate in all packages. There are no weight restrictions for whitewater rafting. We offer a Sampler and The Full Jaunty as part of our School and Youth Group Rafting Packages.

How are the conditions different before and after the spring runoff?

As the snow starts to melt, water levels rise in the springtime. The water gushing down the Rockies creates an exhilarating experience when whitewater rafting through the rapids in Spring. As we progress into the season, the rapids tend to calm down relative to the springtime. These changing conditions allow for beginners and experienced rafters to enjoy the rocky mountains at their own pace.

Can I take my camera or GoPro whitewater rafting?

Yes, you can bring a camera – we suggest securing your camera to your body with a lanyard when whitewater rafting. Some visitors bring their phones, secured in a waterproof case. We have a saying, “Don’t bring anything you don’t want to lose”, however, we do have a few GoPro mounts on the helmets.

Are there any camping options available when rafting for more than one day?

Yes, our cabins and campsites are two of Mukwah’s best-kept secrets. Nestled in the foothills on the banks of the Panther River, our cabins and treed campsites make Mukwah the perfect place to kick back, relax, and escape from the hustle and bustle of your busy work week. Our Camp facilities include a sauna, hot showers, and fire pits. Tent sites are also available. As well as lodging, we also provide meals that cater to every social event.
